Witnessing (Personal Evangelism)
The Gospel is the "good news" about Jesus Christ. It is revealed to us in John 3:16 and Romans 5:8. We are to be "witnesses," to go out and share God's love for us and the salvation that is ours through faith in Jesus Christ. (Acts 1:8). We must preach the Gospel with our mouths and with our lives. (Matthew 5:16).
Witnessing is sharing the Gospel. It will strengthen us greatly and deepen our convictions. If we will tell others what has happened in our lives. It should be done humbly and naturally, as God leads us.
Witnessing is living out the Gospel. There are times when a kind deed done for someone is much more effective than our speaking to them and praying for them. We must help those who are in need (Luke 10:27-37).
As we work together, pray together, share together and praise God together, the Lord will add to the church (Acts 2:42-47). Witnessing is everyone's responsibility (Proverbs 11:30; James 5:20; Matthew 10:7; Acts 8:4)
Through SCVJCC Evangelism, our church reaches out to others by inviting visitors to our church for an Easter and Christmas festival, and participating in community-based events and projects that benefit those in need.
Missions (World Evangelism)
In a real sense, Jesus was the first Missionary. He was sent by the Father from heaven to earth. He came to share the good news of salvation for the whole world. (John 3:16; 20:21) Jesus gave the Great Commission to the church to take the Gospel out to the whole world (Matthew 28:20).
The early church was a missionary-minded church (Acts 1:8; 13:2-3; 16:9-10). We must have concern for missions if the church is to survive. "When there is no vision, the people perish." (Matthew 9:37-38; Proverbs 29:18)
"Fuel is to a fire as Missions is to a church," therefore, pray for and support missions.
