What on Earth Are You Here For?
Have you ever wondered, “What’s the purpose of my life?” Well, our church spent seven weeks or shall we say forty days trying to answer this question. Our Sunday messages, our Sunday School classes, our youth groups and our small groups in our own different ways worked in sync with each other to address the basic question, “What on earth am I here for?” Our congregational members were challenged to read through Rick Warren’s 40 day devotional The Purpose Drive Life: What on Earth Are You Here For? Here are just a few excerpts of what some of our people had to say after our forty days:
“Very positive—very enlightening.” “I was able to feel the Lord’s presence.” “Very simple sessions, yet they touched my heart.” “I used to attend a Bible Study, and I dreaded those meetings. To my surprise, I didn’t dread coming to this small group … I enjoyed this group and felt comfortable.” “I think that’s what’s been really great about this 40 Days of Purpose—to see people coming to God and opening their hearts to Jesus Christ.”
The 40 Days of Purpose campaign was one of spiritual renewal and spiritual growth for our church. Our congregational members found The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Are You Here For? easy to read and easy to understand which made the book very popular in our church. (If anyone follows the news, we also know that this book is popular around the globe.) The new members in our small groups and Sunday School found the DVD presentation and discussion times quite fruitful and enjoyable. Our regular members were renewed as we discovered and studied the five purposes for our lives. Yes, the 40 Days of Purpose campaign was time well spent by our church. We would like to thank all the leaders for their help in allowing this campaign to become a reality and to thank all the folks who participated in this campaign allowing the 40 Days of Purpose to become 40 days of rejuvenation and growth. If you would like to learn “What on Earth Are You Here For?” then we encourage you to read Rick Warren’s book. It might just change your life.
