“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!”[1 Thess. 5:23-24, The message] During the summer, I was able to witness some historical moments in sports via the VCR. I saw perhaps the greatest golf games performed by Tiger Woods. No doubt, you saw the PGA games during the recent months. A typical comment made about Tiger during those games was, "When Tiger is on his game, there is no one who can hang with him." The British Open, the Buick Open, the PGA Championship, and the Deutsche Bank Championship, he won these difficult events each played on different courses requiring different types of strategy and skill. It was reported that his latest victory gave him remarkable 50 percent victory rate—seven titles in only 14 tournaments this year. About the only thing capable of stopping him right now is the schedule. The streak started in July at the British Open, when Tiger won for the first time since his father died in May. The tears flowed on that afternoon when he finished the course as he had to deal with the passing of his father, who would never see him play another tournament. Tiger said that his late father was the driving force behind his phenomenal career. His father was more interested in raising a good son than raising a great golfer. In the Woods family, he said, father wouldn't let his son play golf until he did his homework. He wanted to make sure that the son was learning the game with the proper perspective. Regarding his father, Tiger said on his Web site, "My dad was my best friend and greatest role model…. I'm overwhelmed when I think of all of the great things he accomplished in his life. He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier…. and friend. I wouldn't be where I am today without him, and I'm honored to continue his legacy of sharing and caring." What a beautiful tribute from a son who loves his father. Would we give equally beautiful tribute to our Heavenly Father? No matter how difficult trials we go through and no matter how many tournaments in life we many not win, our heavenly Father will always loves us, be with us and help complete what only He began in us. All we have to do is lean on Him. Receive Christ in your heart. We can then learn to be confident with Apostle Paul, who said, "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." (Phil. 1:6)— Pastor T. Jim Sakurai
