Amazing Grace

I'm jazzed (excited) that a movie about William Wilberforce will be coming out soon. Some of you may ask, “Who is William Wilberforce?” Well, he is a person who heard the call of God and understood the "good work" that he was called to do (Ephesians 2:10). He led a twenty-year fight to end the British slave trade and continued to fight for abolition in the British colonies even after slavery was abolished in England. For more information about the movie, please check < www.amazinggracemovie.com>. Obviously, he is a person that many people respected for his faith in God and for his perseverance in carrying out the work he was made to do. Unfortunately, many people of our generations have forgotten about him. A recent novel by Kevin Belmonte (William Wilberforce) and the movie "Amazing Grace" will help remedy this situation.

As for Christians and movies, it would seem that the best message we can send to Hollywood about our movie preferences is to view the movies that promote good wholesome values. Whether one likes it or not, what speaks to the movie industry folks is the profit margin. Therefore, if we desire to see movies made that are of quality and that promote good biblical values, then it would behoove us to support these movies when they hit the theaters. We would be sending Hollywood the message that wholesome movies are something that our society still desires and would support at the box office. Amazing Grace will hit the theaters on February 23, 2007. Hopefully, the movie will not only be enjoyable, but an inspiration for us to go out and do the “good work” that we have been called to do (Ephesians 2:10).
